Altar Servers
Why should you become an altar server?
1. You don’t have to sit with your parents.
2. You get to wear cool white robes.
3. Little kids are in awe of you.
4. It leads to a deeper friendship with Jesus.
5. They let you play with fire and light candles.
6. They trust you to know when to ring the bells.
7. Carrying the cross builds upper body strength.
8. It may count as community service hours by your school.
The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This is done through specific actions and by setting an example to the congregation by active participation in the liturgy, i.e. joining in the singing of hymns and responses, and by looking alert and sitting or standing at the appropriate times.
Servers carry the cross, hold the book for the priest when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer if used, and present the bread, wine and water to the priest during the preparation of the gifts. The server also assists the priest after he receives the gifts from the people in the washing of hands prior to the beginning of the prayer of consecration.
Altar servers are seated in the Sanctuary and play a vital role in the Liturgy, therefore a server must attend if scheduled to be on duty and is responsible to find a replacement if unable to do so. Servers are on duty from the moment they enter the sanctuary at the start of Mass until they finish cleanup after the Liturgy.

Eucharistic Adoration
Have you spent any time lately in Adoration of the Lord in the Holy Eucharist?
Jesus wants us all to come to Him in the Blessed Sacrament. He is there in person, just waiting for you. Nowhere on earth are you more welcome, nowhere on earth are you more loved, than by Jesus, living and truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Each moment you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth. Every Tuesday is a Day of Adoration at St. Peter’s Chapel. Come and spend time with your best friend, Jesus. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name – There am I in the midst of them.” Mt 18:20
Some Spiritual readings to meditate on are the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. Our Lord gave this to Sister Faustina. He revealed to her this powerful prayer that he wanted everyone to say. Sister Faustina prayed the Chaplet almost constantly especially for the dying and the Lord urged her to encourage others to say it too, promising extraordinary graces to those who would recite this special prayer.

Lectors
This 30 person ministry is an important part of the liturgy of in the Mass. The Lector proclaims the Word of the Lord to the Christian Assembly. The Readings for the weekend liturgies are designed to expose the hearer to the significant passages of the Old Testament, the Epistles and one complete Gospel each Liturgical year. Lectors responsibilities include:
- prayerfully preparing and practicing the reading for Mass
- proclaiming them in a clear voice
- communicating the message of each passage with understanding.

Music Ministry
Our Music ministers strive to meet the feelings of the congregation and help them to pray through heart and soul filled music. We hope to make the mass a more meaningful celebration for all.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN THE CHOIR? All are welcome from high school students to seniors.
Choir rehearsals are Thursdays at 6:30 in the church and also 1/2 hour before each weekend liturgy.

Sacristans
The sacristan is under the direction of the Parish Pastor.
The sacristan is the custodian of the contents of the church which are necessary for the celebration of holy mass. This includes, but not limited to, the cruets, chalices, candles, and altar linens.
Special feast days and holidays require more preparation and more attention by the sacristan.
The Ceremonial of Bishops states, ” The adornment and decor of a church should be such as to make the church a visible sign of love and reverence toward God.”

Ushers
Please join our Usher Ministry to create a welcoming and orderly environment for our parish family as they celebrate the Eucharist.
Men, women, couples are needed at each mass with training given for all to serve together. Please contact the office at 305-872-2537 for questions about this wonderful ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion is comprised of men and women who are called to serve.
This selfless ministry includes:
- Taking holy communion to the sick and homebound
- Helping the celebrant to distribute the Holy Eucharist at mass
- Assisting, by laying on of hands, at the Healing masses
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion publicly affirm their willingness and responsibility of being a servant to others, just as Christ did.
Along with the privilege to serve, these ministers must also be involved in, on a regular basis, one of the other ministries of the church, such as:
- Attending morning mass
- Participating in centering prayer
- Helping with CCD or RCIA
- Taking part in Tuesday Adoration in the church ( an integrated part of this extraordinary responsibility )
