Letter from Father Jets – September 30, 2022

Dear Peterites and friends,

I have been thinking about you and praying for you. I pray that everyone is safe and well after Hurricane Ian.

I have asked our Property Manager to do an assessment of our church property. I am happy to announce that our parish facilities are safe for use. Masses have resumed as well as regular parish activities especially our FoodBank to serve those who are in need in our community.

I am thankful that we have made the decision with Monroe County officials to reserve our church parking lot for their service vehicles during hurricanes as well as for our essential personnel among our parish staff and volunteers of our Community FoodBank and Building Improvements/Repair Ministry. They are always there to help us get back on our feet so that we could help our community in the aftermath of a hurricane. A first responder commended our action that if we did not limit the parking and chained our entrances (with keys provided to County officials) our parish parking lot and driveways would have been inundated with personal vehicles and RV’s that would have blocked their EMT ambulance to access the emergency helicopter landing zone in our church property. I am grateful that we were able to make these arrangements for the benefit and the greater good of our Lower Keys community residents.

Thank you all for your help, concern, and prayers for our parish and community during this hurricane challenge. And we continue our prayers for the safety and well being of all for the rest of the hurricane season.

Peace and blessings to all,

Father Jets
